Santa Ana, California

Santa Ana is Orange County's civic heart and county seat — a dense, dynamic city with a flourishing downtown arts scene, historic architecture, and some of OC's most distinctive cultural institutions.

History

Founded in 1869 by William Spurgeon on land from Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana, Santa Ana became the Orange County seat when the county formed in 1889. Its downtown preserves a remarkable stock of early-1900s commercial buildings, now home to the Artists Village and a celebrated food scene.

Things to do

Explore the Bowers Museum and Discovery Cube OC, visit the Santa Ana Zoo, catch a movie at the historic Frida Cinema, and eat your way down Fourth Street's Calle Cuatro.
