Orange, California

The City of Orange charms with its beautifully preserved Old Towne — the largest National Register historic district in California — centered on the iconic Orange Plaza traffic circle.

History

Founded in 1869 by lawyers Alfred Chapman and Andrew Glassell, who took the land as payment in legal fees, Orange incorporated in 1888 and prospered on Valencia oranges. Unlike most cities, it preserved its original 1886 plaza and surrounding neighborhoods, giving Old Towne its beloved historic character.

Things to do

Hunt for antiques around the Orange Circle, stroll Chapman University's campus, hike or ride at Santiago Oaks Regional Park, and visit the OC Zoo inside Irvine Regional Park.
