History

Founded in 1874 by Alonzo Cook and incorporated in 1956, Garden Grove grew from strawberry fields and orange groves into a booming postwar suburb. Its Strawberry Festival, held every Memorial Day weekend since 1958, remains one of the largest community festivals in the western United States.
