Fullerton is a North County hub of education and culture, home to Cal State Fullerton, a lively historic downtown, and tree-lined neighborhoods with distinctive early-20th-century architecture.

History

Founded in 1887 and named for railroad land agent George H. Fullerton, the city prospered on Valencia oranges, walnuts, and oil. It later earned a place in music history as the birthplace of Leo Fender's electric guitars, and today anchors North OC with its university and college.
